Don’t take other people’s definitions and make them ours. This is a mistake. We know who we are. We are Mong or Hmong. These two terms refer to the same ethnic group. We don’t need a dictionary to tell us who we are. For example, our word “noob” means seed, but when you look in the dictionary, “noob” means “a newbie, especially a person who is new to an online community.” As another example, “has” in our Mong Leng dialect means “to say,” but in the dictionary, it means “a 3rd person singular present indicative of have.” You see how it is the same word, but it means different things.
